MHS Careers Week

Welcome to Melland High School Careers Week 2021.

We’ve had to do things a little differently this year with the current restrictions in place but that hasn’t stopped us from planning lots of fun experiences for our students. We have sessions with our careers advisor for KS3 students. We’ve got virtual encounters from employers in different sectors including Health and Beauty, Sport and Leisure, Construction, Health and Social Care, Retail, Service Industries and Creative Industries. Teachers have planned careers themed lessons around each of the different sectors. Watch this space for updates as the week goes on!

Take a look at the timetable below and click each of the links to find out more about how to make the most of MHS Careers Week.

World Book Day

This year, even though things are a little different we still want to celebrate with you. World Book Day is on 4th March and a brilliant opportunity for everyone to celebrate the joy of reading.  We hope that students are celebrating at home or at school by sharing stories, games and  activities. Reading and sharing books is the perfect lockdown activity for everyone to enjoy.

Here is a great website you can look at for ideas https://www.worldbookday.com/

Children at home who want to dress up as a book character may wish to do so, please email us their photos.

Whole School Competition

Turn a potato into a book character. Take a photo and email it to us. Remember to tell us the name of the character and which book it is from:

Winners will be announced on Friday 12th March.

Whole School Reading Focus

We will also be celebrating on Thursday the 11th  March as part of the whole school Reading Focus  – double  the fun!  Get into the mood by checking out some of the stories read by staff here
