A year of Reading at Melland High School

What better way to celebrate National Year of Reading than by sharing a glimpse of what reading has looked like at Melland High School?

Throughout the year, our KS3 and KS4 pupils have explored stories, characters and worlds that have sparked their imaginations, challenged their thinking and, most importantly, brought plenty of enjoyment along the way. From familiar favourites to new adventures, our pupils have discovered that reading isn’t simply about books — it’s about curiosity, creativity, confidence and finding your own way into a story.

We wanted to celebrate our pupils in a way that reflected the enthusiasm, humour and individuality they bring to our English lessons every day. We decided to let the pupils — and a little poetry — tell the story.

Here is ‘A Year of Reading at Melland’ — a celebration of our readers, their creativity and all the fun we’ve shared along the way. 📖💚

And, of course, the photographs say even more than the words can. We hope you enjoy seeing our pupils bringing reading to life!
