Sixth Form Student’s Recipe for Success

Throughout this year the hospitality and catering group in sixth form have been working hard to develop and extend their skills, confidence and competency within the kitchen environment. This session not only supports the students to enhance their own abilities when preparing food but also stretches and challenges each learner to explore the catering careers sector and gain a better understanding of the skills they have and need to move into a job in this area in the future. Each student has worked incredibly hard to overcome challenges and improve their knowledge and understanding. We have had some fabulous employer encounters, most recently from the wonderful Farida from Buzzrock Café in Hulme, who gave everyone a real insight into what it is like to work in a busy takeaway café. Our next challenge will be for all learners to achieve their Food Hygiene level 1 certificate, a real achievement that will have real currency for any students moving into this sector in the future. Well done to everyone!!
