We aim to provide students at Melland High School with a literacy rich environment, a range of texts and inspiring opportunities which will help them to Gain a life-long enjoyment of reading and books.

Learn functional language that will prepare them for adulthood.

• Formal Learners have engaged in reading activities.
• Students were given the choice to choose books to read for pleasure.
• Discussions have taken place about the front cover, title, author, illustrator and images.
• The students have predicted what the book will be about by analysing the front cover.
